Who we are

At Saint Luke’s Reformed Episcopal Church, we exist to inspire and nurture a vibrant community of faith grounded in the Word of God. We welcome everyone to experience the transformative love of Christ through worship, service, and fellowship.

our church History

Constructed in 1907. Saint Luke's Reformed Episcopal Church was organized ca. 1887 at 48 Nassau Street and moved to 60 Nassau Street where there was a building owned by the Rt. Rev. Peter F. Stevens, the white bishop of this predominantly Black congregation.

This building had been a laundry and was then in use as an elementary school for Blacks. The school building was replaced by the present structure in 1907.

Under the leadership of Dr. Rev, Julius Barnes we have continued to grow and embrace our rich church culture. In doing so, we have set goals to:

  • Increase congregational engagement over the years through new programs and outreach initiatives.

  • Launch at least two community service projects annually to meet the needs of our local area.

  • Establish a comprehensive discipleship program that meets the general needs of each participants within the first year.

  • Expand our youth and children’s ministries in attendance and involvement with church and community events.

Together, we are committed to living out our faith, grounded in Scripture, and making a lasting impact in our community and beyond. Join us on this journey!
